Administrator Spotlight: Coach Dexter Williams

Coach Dexter Williams serves as the Director of Athletics and the Head Boys Basketball coach at TCA. With an incredible athletic career of his own, he has now impacted the lives of countless young men and women as a coach and leader.

Williams graduated from Union University in 2000 completing a double major with degrees in Physical Education/Wellness and Sports Medicine. He played basketball for four years for the Union Bulldogs where they won numerous titles. After college, Coach Williams continued his passion for athletics as a coach throughout West TN. In 2021, God called him to Trinity Christian Academy and he began serving in his current role in May of that year.

Since his time at TCA began, with many incredible coaches under his leadership as Athletic Director, the lions across our various athletic programs have won district titles, regional tournaments, and advanced in state tournaments. But these accolades are not what make Coach Williams the leader on our campus that he is; rather his heart for discipleship, love for people, and commitment to our school’s mission define his impact. Under his leadership, TCA won the A.F. Bridges Award for sportsmanship this past school year. To be considered, schools must have no unsportsmanlike incidents or ejections during ALL athletic TSSAA High School competitions for that term. Though TCA will never be a perfect school filled with perfect people, the goal of our athletic programs is that of our school as a whole: to assist Christian families and their churches in providing a Biblically-directed, excellent education that equips students to be Godly leaders and servants in their homes, churches, and communities. With 100% of our coaches being believers in Christ, a lot of discipleship happens while pushing students to work hard physically, mentally, emotionally, and collaboratively.

"TCA has been a tremendous blessing to me and my family. The relationships that we have made since being at TCA have blessed us in more ways than I could have ever imagined. Trinity Christian is a special place with a unique mission and has a major impact on our community. I am blessed to have the opportunity to be a small part of it." - Dexter Williams

Coach Dexter Williams and his family.

Coach Williams’s family is also a big part of the TCA community. This season, his son Kaleb was inducted into the 1,000 points club as a Junior TCA Boys Basketball player. His daughter Karcyn can be seen at most TCA athletic events cheering alongside our cheer squad. His daughter Kayleigh is a freshman at Mississippi State University majoring in Psychology. His wife Amber played college basketball at Lambuth University and is a special education teacher at South Gibson County High School.

Beyond his roles at TCA, Coach Williams is also heavily involved in the TSSAA on the Board of Control and coaches the Jackson Underdogs who have appeared on ESPN+.

Coach Williams, thank you for your commitment to the mission of TCA and for being a wonderful example of a humble, servant leader. May God continue to bless your efforts and family.
