Discover Middle School at TCA

What sets the Middle School experience at TCA apart? Middle School students at Trinity are part of a culture where kindness is celebrated, worship is valued, and collaboration is encouraged. The Middle School years have a reputation for being a tumultuous time in the lives of children as they are transitioning into the teen years. At TCA, we intentionally work to provide an atmosphere where Middle School students thrive as they begin growing into the individuals God made them to be.

At TCA, we are a covenant Christian School, partnering with Christian parents and their local churches to equip godly servant leaders in their homes, churches, and communities. This means that we strive to come alongside you and provide a robust and engaging education for your child while helping to shape the whole of who they are with a Biblical worldview. This means intentionally taking steps through Excellent Academics, Discipleship, the Arts, Athletics, and more. We strive to be excellent in all things because we know that God uses all things to shape us into His likeness. Read below to see how we are growing and thriving in those efforts.

Middle School at Trinity Christian Academy is Sixth through Eighth Grade.

Sixth Grade: Transitioning Into Middle School
At TCA, we actively take steps to prepare our students academically for Middle School in the grades leading up to it. From slowly integrating technology, to test taking and classroom management, our faculty are intentionally planning curriculum in ways that equip students for the next stage in their academic careers. By the time a student completes fifth grade at TCA, they should be fluent in Google programs, instilled with practices in personal responsibility, and equipped with study tools to help them thrive. Beyond just academic preparation, students are prepared spiritually and emotionally. We make it our aim to be continuously growing in ways to cultivate an atmosphere of acceptance and understanding that leads to our students being seen and known for who God made them to be in Christ.

Once students begin sixth grade, they are enrolled in Lion Prep. This first semester course is designed to help students acclimate to life as a Middle School student. This course focuses on academics, emphasizing the importance of learning goals and plans for meeting those goals. Students are also encouraged to begin exploring their gifts and to engage in godly peer relationships. Sixth grade is also when Forge Groups begin. These Discipleship groups are for students of the same age and gender and are a small group setting led by godly TCA faculty. Within Forge Groups, students are discussing monthly topics based on our annual passage. Topics like conflict resolution, healthy relationships, technology boundaries, and more. Students also begin attending Middle School chapel each week. Worship is led by local worship pastors or the student Worship Team led by worship pastor and TCA parent, Mark Willard. Bible teaching is led by local student pastors or TCA faculty and aligns with the annual theme. Click here to read more about Discipleship at TCA.

Athletic and Fine Arts opportunities increase at this age with countless opportunities for students to engage in on campus activities. Middle School Athletics provide 13 different sport options with the addition of the Clay Shooting team. What sets TCA athletics apart, is that 100% of our coaches are believers in Christ. Our goal is to not only provide competitively excellent athletic programs, but most importantly, discipleship driven athletic programs. Coaches at TCA are known for ways they incorporate a Biblical worldview. From a coach providing Bibles to an opposing teams athletes when feeling led, to focused intentional prayer time, students at TCA have an opportunity to grow in Christ through the example of godly male and female coaches. As with athletics, Fine Arts at TCA, provide opportunities for students to glean from godly educators and leaders. Annually, our Upper School Theatre program provides opportunities for Middle School students to not only be a part of a fantastic theatrical production, but to also be led by godly adults who point them to Jesus in all things. Students have countless other opportunities, from choirs to fine arts to percussion. There are limitless possibilities for Middle School students as they continue to grow into the young men and women God made them to be while being seen, loved, prayed for, and supported.

Seventh and Eighth Grade
These years at TCA are where students are preparing for high school and beyond as they grow academically, socially, and spiritually. Students continue to grow in all things, lean in to their interests, and explore who God created them to be through the same means available in 6th Grade. Students are also beginning to learn skills for taking the ACT as we shift to students taking the PreACT beginning in 8th Grade. The goal of this type of testing is to set up our students for success as they prepare for life after High School. Practice taking the ACT has been proven to boost ACT scores, increasing college acceptance and college scholarship opportunities. But we are not just focused on students being prepared academically for their future. Our primary goal and very mission is to provide an academically excellent education that partners with Christian parents and their local churches to equip students to be godly servant leaders in their homes, churches, and communities. We work together with this as our united goal.
